Why we spent a Sunday morning at a race in Davao City.
At 4 AM on Sunday, 27 September, 2,500 runners gathered at San Pedro College in Davao City for the SPC Fun Run. snapscale was proud to be a sponsor.
People sometimes ask me why a company that supports US healthcare practices would sponsor a college fun run in the Philippines. The answer says a lot about the people behind your practice: where they come from, how they are trained, and why they stay.
When I visited San Pedro College, one of Davao City’s best-known schools for nursing and the health sciences, I met Dr. Ana Julia P. Enero, Vice President for Academics; Prof. Jocelyn A. Catarata, RN, MAN, Dean of the School of Nursing; and Dr. June L. Prieto, Director of the Internationalization and Linkages Office.
On 29 August, our team followed up with Demie Laine Baluis and Tuesday Ann Tom of SPC’s Alumni Affairs and Career Guidance Offices. We talked about career paths for SPC alumni and graduating students into remote Medical Virtual Assistant roles with snapscale.
Here is why that matters to you. The Healthcare Virtual Assistants (HVAs) who verify insurance, chase prior authorizations and answer your phones start out as students at schools like SPC. Investing in those schools is how we build a pipeline of people who already understand healthcare.
Runners chose between a 3K and a 7K route, and our booth was busy all morning. Our team handed out snapscale pens and fans and talked with runners about who we are and what a Healthcare Virtual Assistant does.
The fun didn’t stop at the finish line. Runners who posted a race photo on Facebook and tagged snapscale received a gift from us.
Admin turnover in US healthcare practices runs at 40-45%. When a front-desk hire walks out, the missed calls, delayed follow-ups and lost patients walk out with them.
I built snapscale to be the opposite of that. We want to be an employer people stay with, and a company that shows up in the communities our team comes from. Sponsoring the SPC Fun Run is one piece of that. For our own team, it’s sportsfests, cultural celebrations and the breakfasts I get to share with them when I’m in Davao.
People who feel supported do better work, and they stick around. Your patients feel that stability when the same familiar voice answers the phone month after month.
The students and graduates at that starting line are the kind of people who could be answering your phones and clearing your prior-auth queue next month. They are HIPAA-trained, work from secured snapscale offices and are backed by a team that invests in them.
If you’d like to see where an HVA fits in your practice, book a 15-minute Clinic Execution Review. I’d love to hear what’s slowing your front desk down.
